Meet the Horses!
We couldn't make any of this happen without our wonderful horses. A lesson horse is a teacher, who will teach your child and yourself more than just to ride. Lesson horses teach about life, bring people out of their shells, and offer us new perspectives. All of them are worth their weight in gold.
Come see for yourself!
Our Old Lady
Stardust
At 23 years old, Stardust is the oldest horse in the lesson program, but she makes the saying "Old is Gold" ring true. Her favorite treat is soft mints and she loves greeting everyone who comes into the barn. Legend says she has the fluffiest ears known to horsekind.
Our Babysitter
Bronzestar
Bronzestar is Stardust's little brother, and shows that sweetness runs in their blood. He becomes instant besties with any horse or rider that comes through the barn and is known to be one of our model horses.
Our Spunky Little Man
Braveheart
Full-blooded brother to Bronzestar, Braveheart is the youngest of the three siblings, though at 20 years old he cannot quite be considered young anymore! This sensitive softie's best trick is lifting his front leg to beg for treats-- it wins us over every time.
Our Unicorn
Silver
One ride on this sweet boy will make you feel like you're straight out of an old western movie. Silver is truly a cowboy's horse and a little girl's fairy tale dream. Ride his lope once and you will fall in love with him forever!
Our Radiant Rescue
Ghost-Ryder
When Ghost came to us he was a different horse than he is today--emaciated and scared of his own shadow. After years of nothing but love from his owner Jana and the rest of the Ballentine Farms Family, this nervous nellie has flourished into a cuddly, sweet, and very handsome unicorn. It's obvious to anyone that meets Ghost that he is grateful for all the love he receives from his owner and his riders!
Our Horse-opotamus
Tux
Don't let him fool you-- Tux has both the heart and stomach of ten horses. Bring him anything to eat and give him some neck scratches and you will be his favorite person forever! We think that he is such a slowpoke when students are on his back because he is daydreaming about eating all of the grass in the arena.
Our Toddler-Brained Boy
Peewee
Although he is now six years old, Peewee is the definition of "youngest sibling complex". He knows that he is the baby of the herd and he is proud of it! Peewee is VERY playful and constantly starved for attention and treats. He keeps his riders on their toes with his constant tricks and games, but patient riders are rewarded with his beautiful lope and smooth gaits!
Our Diva Queen
Shirley
Shirley is hot stuff and she knows it! She struts her stuff on the daily. This big girl has a gorgeous classic Tennessee Walker gait and is in foal to World Champion Daddy's Cash (baby coming Spring 2024)!
Our School Bus
Rain
Built like a tank with a heart just as big, our girl Rain can do it all! She is absolutely fearless and rides anywhere around the farm cool as can be. When she's not being a big puppy dog, she can be found in the pasture glued to her tiny best friend, Cricket.
Our Treat Lover
Babygirl
Lovingly nicknamed "The cow-horse" by many of our students, Babygirl is much more than just her stunning paint color! Like many of our horses, she is gentle and loving to any that climb onto her back. Her favorite treats are peppermints, just not too many because she is diabetic!
Our Retired Movie Star
Xena
You may have heard of her. She's kind of a big deal. Xena, aka Queen Bee, was in the 2000 film "Patriot" with Mel Gibson. Now that she's made it big, she spends all her days in retirement with us at the ripe age of 27, eating all the grass her heart desires.
Our Teddy Bear
Grizzly
He goes by many names-- Grizzly, Teddy Bear, Captain Hook, or Grizwald; but no matter what you call him, Grizzly is happy to see his riders every time! This sweet old guy just wants to please his riding partner and earns his treats every. single. time.
Our Not-Technically-A-Horse
Gus
Gus has lived at the farm since he was a kid! Nancy used to take him with her in her passenger seat to McDonalds and get him apple pies as a treat.
